When to visit Mekong Delta

The weather and climate is a important factor that impact your trip and some outdoor activities when traveling. So you should find some information about the best time to visit Mekong Delta before going. 

The weather of Southern Vietnam is very stable throughout the year with the average temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Although it could be rainy in some months, any day during the year would be great time for tourists to visit Mekong Delta. However, the best time for visiting is between September and November as these months are the floating season in Mekong Delta. This season attracts not only international tourists but also Vietnamese people since there are many interesting things to experience. You can go fishing on a Vietnamese traditional boat with local people, and then enjoy the meal cooked with the fish you just caught.

In addition to the floating season, the months between December and April are also good time to visit Mekong Delta. The weather is comfortable and the rainfall is low in these months. You will enjoy some interesting activities, like riding a bike along the country roads, visiting local families to experience their daily life. Furthermore, it is the harvest season of fruits, so you will have a chance to enjoy many Vietnamese tropical fruits when they are fresh and delicious.

In Mekong Delta, the rainy season begins in May and lasts until August. However, the rains in this region are usually short and won’t affect your trip seriously. Thus, visiting Mekong Delta during these months is not a bad choice at all. Visiting Mekong Delta in this time, travelers who love fresh tropical fruits can sample and savour amazing fruits such as mango, pineapple, grapefruit, starapple and others. Besides, you will have great experiences when taking a boat ride under shade of water coconut tree along natural canals, observing local life, enjoying honey tea with the sound of “Southern Vietnamese folk music” and tasting delicious coconut candy.

Moreover, Tet in Mekong Delta is a perfect time to visit because it is quite different from itself in the big cities like Ho Chi Minh city or Hanoi. Enjoying Tet in Mekong Delta, you will learn rich Southwestern culture at Tet with traditional food and festivals, all member of family have a warm meals together. Besides, you should visit old flower villages such as Tan Quy Dong, Thoi Nhut and Cai Mon to take some beautiful photos.
