Navigating Vietnam: The Vietnam Map

So you're planning on visiting the wonderful country of Vietnam. You've packed all your clothes, some beachwear for the fantastic beaches in the area, and some pocket money for shopping. You've arranged your plane tickets and you've already booked a room in a four-star hotel in the area. Think you've got everything covered? Think again.

When it comes to traveling to Vietnam, or come to think of it, any place in the world, one of the most important things you'd need is a handy map. Vietnam, more properly known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is a country that is located in the eastern area of the Indochina Peninsula. It stretches around 331,688 km2 with most of the land consisting of densely forested mountains and hills.

Getting lost in a big country with 59 provinces is no fun, especially when you have to navigate from town to town. You wouldn't want to go to Hanoi and end up in Ho Chi Minh City, that's quite far. Whether it's a business trip or you're taking a week-long vacation, time management should be one of your top priorities. The only way you can enjoy traveling to another country when you're only staying for a short while would be by properly managing your time.

Arrange trips to areas that you wish to visit. If you're renting a car, then your car rental place would most likely give you a Vietnam map. The problem is that usually the maps they hand out are not of the best quality. Consider getting a good map. When you find that you can last through your whole trip without getting lost or needing to ask for directions every kilometer traveled or so, then you would see that you've just made an excellent investment in your map.

There are different types of maps you can purchase or download. If you're planning on staying in Vietnam for a pretty long time, then you can get a road atlas. Your Vietnam road atlas is bound to be very detailed telling you the whole country's road network. Navigating through the busy streets of Vietnam would be made easier with a road atlas in hand.

If you're only staying in a specific region or province in Vietnam, then consider finding a folded, high quality map of that specific area only. It would save you time when it comes to searching through highways and streets in the province. Added provinces to your map could only make it harder for you to locate where you are.

For example, if you're traveling to Hanoi, then you can simply get a detailed street map of Hanoi instead of an actual Vietnam map. This would help you find your way to your hotel and to shopping centers and other areas you may want to visit. A lot of the street maps in Vietnam are usually focused on tourism. Find a map which places markers on eateries, hotels and other amusement areas you can visit during your stay.

Even if you're planning on taking a Vietnam tour, purchase a Vietnam map anyways. While on your tour, you can easily mark the places your tour group has visited. This way, when you do return to Vietnam with your other travel buddies, then you can be the one to show them around.

Make your trip to Vietnam a lot more memorable. See all the sights you want to see and visit all the places you want to visit without getting lost. Purchase a Vietnam map for your trip.
