Trang An eco-tourism complex is the comnination of green mountains and blue water, many caves limestone mountains, wild natures of forest and rivers and a large system of unique caves. And it is considered as “Halong Bay on land” or “outdoor geological museum”.
Trang An is an ecotourism area surrounded by mountains of limestone, lakes, caves and a rich ecosystem with hundreds of different species. The crust in the Trang An region has a geologic history of 245 million years and includes six strata from of the Triassic and Quaternary Ages.
With the total area of 1,961 hectares, Trang An Eco-tourism complex boasts 48 grottoes and caves, 31 valleys and the hallowed cultural area of Bai Dinh Pagoda. In Trang An, boat trips are offered to enable visitors to explore the breathtaking beauty of the maze-like aquatic cave system, which is famed as the “sole aquatic cave system” in Viet Nam’s Northern Delta region. The caves, sculpted into an unlimited variety of geological formations, each reaching from dozens of meters to hundreds of meters in length, are connected by 31 “thung” (lakes). Distinguished from one to the other by its own unique beauty or a fairy tale attached, each bears its own name, such as Sang (Light) cave, Toi (Dark) cave, Ba Giot (three-drop) cave, Nau Ruou (Brewing wine) cave, Dia Linh cave, Ao Trai cave, Si cave, Sinh cave and others.
Besides, there are numerous historical relics related to architecture, economics, social and military history from the Dinh, Le and Ly dynasties. There are many valleys like Tran Temple Valley, May Valley, Khong Valley, Nau Ruou Valley.
